My boyfriend and I were visiting Paris last May. We stayed 2 nights and 3 whole days (at the Royal Phare Hotel). We did a lot of things and saw so many places. I definitely recommend our trip to everyone because Paris is such a beautiful city to go to. So… let me tell you something more about our trip.
During the 3 days we were staying in Paris we had no second to get bored. We made a list of hotspots we wanted to see. Of course we made some changes during the trip, but still it gives you a good overview of every day. Besides that you already can calculate how much the hotspots will cost.
During our stay we saw the following hotspots:
- Eiffel tower;
- Arc de Triomphe;
- Jardin des Tuileries;
- Jardin du Luxembourg;
- Place de la Concorde;
- Hôtel des Invalides;
- Arc de Trioumph;
- Pont Alexandre-III;
The only two spots we payed for were the Louvre and Versailles. We bought our tickets for the Louvre online. I recommend this because there is always a long line of people who are waiting and it is a little bit cheaper than paying at the museum. When we went to Versailles by train (subway card works as well) we did not bought the tickets on forehand. We were very lucky because the line was small, but if you want to be sure you do not have to wait just buy the tickets online.
For travelling I recommend to walk and use the subway. When you walk you see a lot more and really experience Paris. But there are places that are a bit too far to walk to. For example, take the subway to the Sacré-Coeur and use the train to go to Versailles. If you already bought a zone ticket for the subway you can use it for the train to Versailles as well. There are possibilities to buy subway tickets online but it is not necessary. It is really easy to buy the tickets at a subway and in this way you can buy a specific zone ticket each day.
STAY IN THE PERFECT HOTEL
If you go to Paris you have to stay IN Paris. I think it is important to stay in a comfortable hotel with a great location. Of course not something too expensive…. so we stayed at the Royal Phare Hôtel. It is around the corner of the Eiffel Tower in a beautiful neighbourhood. The hotel is very clean, has good service and looks nice.
Across from the hotel is subway station École Militaire located. Next to the hotel is a supermarket where you can buy breakfast for example. Every morning we bought some fresh juices and croissants and ate it under the Eiffel tower. The best way to start the day.
Sitting in front of the Eiffel tower was also the best way to finish the day. Every night there is a light show at the Eiffel tower. This show starts at the beginning of each hour after sunset. The show duration is 5 minutes and only the last one at 1 am takes 10 minutes. Because the hotel was so good located we did not had to take the subway. We just walked to the show and enjoyed the view.
TRAVELLING THE BEST WAY
There are enough ways to travel to Paris. I live in the south of the Netherlands so we took the car because it was the cheapest way (toll and gas included). We parked our car near the ring road of Paris and across a subway station. We made a reservation at the parking garage on forehand, definitely recommended for a stress-free arrival. In total we travelled around 4/5 hours before we arrived at the hotel.
Of course you can take the train or plane as well. Both easy and fast ways to go to Paris.
